Wee Things Slithering Snakes Sewing Kit (Kits vary in color)
This is an all-inclusive kit for a child to make two felt snakes with forked tongues, beaded eyes, and beaded tails. This is a great first project for young children (approximately age 5 and up) who are eager to use a needle and thread. Little ones will require some adult assistance in getting their needle setup and tied off, but no previous sewing experience is required! Children will love exploring patterns with the beautiful felted woolen squares and will hone their fine motor skills as they string them onto their snakes. For a musical component, they can add a wooden bead tail and even make a rattle snake.
There is nothing more satisfying than creating hand-made toys for children (or better yet, with children!) from all natural materials. The 100% wool squares included in this box are painstakingly cut from remnants of felted woolen clothing. These are not worn garments, but rather the cast-offs from clothing manufacturing. Each kit varies in color, but includes at least 4 different shades. Please note that the wool squares may shed some lint when you first open the box, since they are lightly hand-felted for ease of sewing.
This eco-friendly, beautifully packaged set provides you with detailed, illustrated directions to guide you through sewing these fun snake toys. In this box, you will find:
Wooden beads in two sizes
3/4" felted wool squares (approximately 120 pieces) - please note that colors vary
4 yards red embroidery floss
You will need your own:
Scissors (Click here if you need felt cutting scissors.)
The finished toys are approximately 12-14" long. Due to small parts, the snakes are not suitable for children under the age of three.
